Little home makers in the making (Day 7)

I don’t remember that I had to do much in the house when I was a child. In a way I wish I had, because it gives you a good foundation in life. I find it very important, especially for girls, that they are being taught house hold skills from a young age. Now that I am a single mum, it is also very important to get the help from my girls. My girls can normally make a lot of mess. Especially my youngest.  It is often the case that I have just tidied up somewhere and a few minutes after she has arrived in the area it is as if a bomb has exploded. It is as if you did not just spend a few hours tidying up. It can be quite frustrating and I am sure that a lot of other mums can relate to it.
I once saw in a tv program for single mums, a mum with four kids who taught her kids to help out, because she saw them all as a team. That really spoke to me. That is how it is. You are a new family, you are team with your children and together you are responsible for everything going smoothly in the hou…

A toddler bedroom tour: Peppa pig room

I never really had baby rooms for my babies. So after we brought Nevaeh home, she had a little corner in my room. She had her crib, a changing unit and closet in my bedroom with her clothes in it and a nappy stacker on the door. But I always planned on getting her, her own bedroom one day. I saw video’s on youtube of baby rooms in the bird theme and fell in love with that theme. I loved the Pottery Barn theme and wanted to give her a room with birds and owls, a little bit like in that theme. So I started shopping last year and thinking of ideas for her room. I never really got to making that room though. Apart from hanging up a frame or two, it always stayed a plan.

This Summer Yovannah got her own Hello Kitty room for her birthday and afterwards we also did the other bedrooms. Nevaeh and Yovannah are really close and they both love Peppa Pig a lot. And Nevaeh now loves Peppa pig a bit more than Yovannah does. So when we asked her what kind of room she wanted she said a Peppa pig roo…

An afternoon of playdough fun

-I originally wrote this post a few weeks ago-
Last year I had the privilege of doing a childcare course. It was an amazing and life changing experience. The post of how I came to do the course is on my broken laptop but since I printed it out for one of my assignments I'll probably type it again and will post it one of these days.

I loved the module Child Development in which you learned about all the areas of child development and how to promote all the different areas through activities. In the module Early Childhood Education we learned to plan and implement activities. One of the favourites to do with children was play dough because it promotes intellectual, physical, emotional, social and language development at the same time. I went into a pre-montessori and made play dough with the kids and then they played with it.
And at home I did the same with my kids. We made four different colours and added some glitters as well. Ixora and I ended up making really cool things like …

Our long fun weekend

Last weekend the kids had an extra long weekend because of the Bank holiday and an extra school holiday. We were also blessed with quite good weather, so we decided to do some fun things with them.
These are the activities that we chose.

Saturday.
I took the kids to the Square in Tallaght for cookie decorating, face painting, colouring/painting, and balloon modelling.

I was impressed by this event. All of my kids enjoyed it, even my two year old.
This is event was free but they were collecting money for the Children's Hospital . The recommended age was three year old but all children were welcome. And I can certainly say that it was suitable for two year olds as well.
