What I wore Wednesday : dresses

I decided to finally do a What I wore Wednesday post again.
I will be sharing two outfits that I've had on over the last days in which I have been doing the 30 day challenge of wearing dresses and skirts. Read about it here .

When I was in Ireland I used to love going to the carboot sale to pick up cheap stuff and I often shopped there for clothes.

I got the dress that I am wearing in the picture below, on the carboot sale together with two different dresses for 1 euro. I did not wear it for ages but since I don't have a lot of dresses and skirts and I am trying to do this challenge, I had to give it a try.
It is really short, so I always wear it with pants. I chose black dress pants since they seemed the best match. The top from the dress is from t-shirt material and the dress is more cotton- like but very soft and it has pockets. The colours are dark-blue and white.
I also bought the brown jack on the carboot sale but it was new and so I paid about 8 euro for it.
It is made …

A few more goals for May (Day 8)

It has not been easy to make sure to post on my blog every day. I normally don’t have posts done in advance, ready to be published. I had a few on my old laptop but i lost them when the hard drive broke. And I have two on this one and one on paper somewhere, which are not completely finished or need to be updated but I don’t really feel like doing those posts either. And lately I have been playing a game online which just takes up your time (haha, I do it instead of watching tv though ) and so these last two days I only started writing a post, when I thought about going to bed. Bad, I know !
Since it is an hour later in Ireland and my blog still has Irish time, I still managed to publish ‘on time.’ But for the coming time I’m going to try to start writing some posts in advance. School starts again tomorrow so I will be starting with a new daily schedule and I have set some time apart to spend on blogging and blog-related things. Doing the 30 day challenge of wearing dresses and skirt…

Favourite April buys BEDM day 5

Like I mentioned earlier this week, I am currently trying to make a little more effort and I am more often using a little more make up than I did before. Actually I used to be quite 'make up less'  most of them time.  Since I did not really have enough make up to be able to do that, I recently went to the Big Bazar here in Amsterdam to pick up a few cheap make up items.

I got a foundation, mascara, a lipgloss and a lipstick.

And since I started the challenge of wearing dresses and skirts, (read here ) I have been using these every day now together with a black pencil which I already had.

It is interesting to get in the habit of putting some make up on. I think that is really good to pay more attention to how I look.

So I'm really happy with these items and I'm sure that I will really be using them quite a lot in the coming time and that I will enjoy it.

I am also trying to take more care of my hair and so I'm regularly co-washing my hair and so I was delighted to …

Another challenge Day 3 #BEDM

Today I accepted a new challenge. A friend of mine posted an album on facebook with the text "30 day chalenge of wearing dresses and skirts." I commented ; ‘Sounds cool’ and before I knew it, she challenged me to do the same. And I decided to accept. I don’t have a lot of dresses and skirts but I’m going to give it a try anyway. I used to love wearing dresses / skirts to church. Nice long ones. But I don’t have a lot of those anymore. And today when I looked through my wardrobe, deciding what to wear, I realized that a lot of dresses / skirts actually needed to be washed so the best I could do was to wear a short dress with a legging. It's not my favourite way to wear a skirt or dress but I sometimes do. So after taking a shower and co-washing my hair, that is what I put on.

It is the same dress that I had on last Summer when the girls and I were in Romania. Only then I was a few kilograms lighter.

I realized that accepting this challenge also meant, that I would have t…

What I like, love loathe in Suriname

I really had to get used to being here and even though I know that I wouldn’t be able to live here at the moment for a few different reasons, I’m trying to enjoy the little things.... I decided to do a like, love, loathe post  (as the idea of Futures ) about being here.

Like I like it that it is never really cold and that I can wear summer clothes every day. I get to see my mum a lot. Every day she comes by, mostly reads a newspaper outside and we chat a bit and she helps out where ever she can.

I like the little pieces of Surinamese fruit on vinegar.  Healthy and yummy.

I also like swinging in the hammock at the back of the house, especially if it makes me feel less warm because of the wind.

Love I love doing tv fitness every weekday. I still want to lose some more weight...and try to get a flatter tummy and thinner thighs.  Haha I have a couple of trousers that don’t fit right......When I’m doing it I sometimes think : 'what am I thinking ? why am I doing this to myself ?' Y…

A short fake nail review Day 3 SBBC

So I saw these in DEALZ and I loved the colours and since it was only 1,49 I really got tempted to buy them. I don’t often use fake nails. I think you can even say that you can count the times that I’ve used them on the fingers of one hand. I remember having 'golden' fake nails when I was younger and I loved them. They were really unique and people always asked about them and complimented on them.
When I took these fake nails out of the pack and put one of them on my nail I realised that they are not long nails. They are actually hardly longer than my own nails. But I love that about them. They are perfect for mummies. I loved having them on.

They come in a pack with three sets in different colours: Pink, purple and black . They have a gloss on them so it’s almost like you’re just wearing glossy nail polish. I love the concept because my nail polish gets off quite easily when I do the dishes etc. So they’re really handy for that. Since they don’t really give you long nails t…

Day 2 SBBC My favourite jewelry and eyeshadow palette

When I saw the lifestyle topic suggestion from today I didn't think I was going to write about it because I don't have a lot of jewelry and I nowadays seldom wear jewelry.

But then I thought it would be nice to challenge myself and to write about the topic anyway, even though I'm planning to do another post for today as well.

I thought about the jewelry that I do have and decided that my favourite piece of jewelry is my big sparkly ring. I love it because I absolutely love bling and this ring is really very 'blingy'.
I received it together with a  matching necklace and watch as a prize when I was an AVON business developer.

I also wasn't sure about the beauty topic since I don't have a fancy eye shadow palette. I don' t use eye shadow often lately but decided to still give it a go.

I have a few small eye shadow palettes from my AVON time.  They are quite simple palettes. They all have four different colours.

'Smokey eyes' has white, pink, silver…

September Beauty Blog Challenge

I always wanted to do a blog challenge to motivate me to write everyday so when I read about the September Beauty Blog Challenge I decided to participate in it.
I love that there are different topic suggestions for beauty or life style posts as this will help me to start writing about other things as well. I haven't been doing a lot of beauty posts but I love the idea of writing more of these. I saw some other September challenges but I liked this one the most.

I hope to be able to stick with it and blog every day, even though I 'm probably not going to use all the topic suggestions.
I hope this will really motivate me and increase my love for blogging as well as get me in the habit of blogging regularly.
I hope that I'll grow to love blogging about other topics than I'm used to. And hopefully I 'll get to meet a lot of new bloggers and make some blog friends.

So join in  or read along.....

Read about it here.
 Love,

Missing in action 2

My kids really love the bathroom- too much. You seriously can’t trust them on their own to just go in and use the potty, wash their hands and then go out again. Especially the smallest. She can spend ages in the bathroom and unfortunately I end up with a wet bathroom floor again and again if I don’t keep an eye on her and her sister. They  are really partners in crime.  And they make toothbrushes disappear to somewhere: a place of which I don’t know if I want to find them back and use them again, So a few days ago I found myself in the exact same situation I was in two years ago. My toothbrush was missing. And yes I learned from then to put my toothbrush up on a shelf in the medicine cabinet but I guess sometimes I forget to do that. So we went to DEALZ last week to get new toothbrushes and some other stuff and what did I find there for 1,49 ? The exact same toothbrush that I wrote a post about the last time that this happened.
So I decided just to post the same old post again as mos…

Trying to get back to pre-baby weight (part 1)

I have two rings on my ring finger on my right hand, which have permanently been there, for a few years. They are just not able to come off no matter what I try. They are a reminder of the fact that I used to be a totally different weight a few years ago before I started having kids.
It’s so strange that when you are younger and about 59 kilograms of weight that you constantly want to weigh less and try a crazy diet now and then just to try to get back to 54 kilograms.
A whole lot changed after I got my oldest girl. I just accepted that I had to wear bigger clothes. After all, I was nursing her and didn’t want to diet while I was doing that. Only when she was over one year old, and she wasn’t as much dependant on drinking milk from me, I started to go to the gym again and started a diet. I don’t think that I ever got back to my post baby weight though. I did lose weight but I probably gave up somewhere. I never went back to being size 8 or 6 and must’ve ended up in a size 12 but I wa…

AVON Ireland is no more

It’s officially two weeks ago now that AVON pulled the plug on the business in Ireland. Apparently they were losing money. Since I stopped being a business developer last year I read the news on facebook. I was in shock. And also a bit sad. Not because the loss of income, because even though I officially was still a representative I didn’t do a lot of AVON work. But I still felt a loss. I felt a loss because I had become so dependent on so many AVON products myself and I was just about to put a nice order in for myself for some products we use at home and which had run out. The prices of the AVON products are so affordable and what I also loved about AVON shopping is that you didn’t have to leave the door to go to a drugstore or supermarket to look for products. It was so convenient.
Apparently a few business developers- for whom this still was their main income – have decided to take their teams to Oriflame. I’m not so sure about trying that yet. But I’m interested in seeing a br…

Running in mud

Just (exactly) three more weeks, counting from today and then I’m going to do a 5K challenge in a team with a few other 'crazy' women.
The 'crazy' part is that there is probably going to be a lot of mud involved, water, rope climbs and a lot of other obstacles.
And it is not exactly in the middle of the Summer.
It's getting a bit cold here some days.

Take a look at the video below to get an idea of the event that I'm talking about.

Exciting eh? Mwah But it should be a great personal challenge to participate in it and lots of fun too.

In June I did 10 k in the Womens mini marathon but I haven’t done much training since then, apart from taking a lot of long walks on my fit flops which made it to my August favourites post .Read here. And I had a few more walks and went jogging one single time.

Well today, I’m ‘suffering’ from flu but from next week I will really have to start getting more active again because you seem to need quite some energy to pull…

What 's in my (black clutch) bag ?

It’s only a few more hours till the end of my giveaway. So if you haven’t entered yet. Please enter here now.
One of the items that I’m giving away is a black clutch from AVON.
I really love those bags myself and have one of them as well.
Last Sunday I went to church dressed in black and decided to take my black clutch with me.

It was the first time I used it. I normally have bigger bags like the one from my August favourites post, so I was curious to know what would fit in it and was excited that my purse (August favourites) fitted in it. So I decided to do a post about it.
This is what was in my bag.

Sunglasses (from my post August favourites )
Reading glasses
Pen
Eye liner
Lip gloss
Mascara
Wallet
Bottle of perfume

I must say that the way it’s made, it’s really good to have a big purse in it because it helps give it a shape.

Well, I hope that you enjoyed my post.

Good luck to all who entered in the giveaway.

And have a wonderful weekend.

Love.
